IE. 6 Error messages

Help

My daughter is in University and logs onto the network via
Putty and has no problem doing that. Approx 2 weeks ago
the only site she can get to is MSN and Hotmail. Any other
site causes a program error and IE closes down. But here
is the stange thing, if she emails the url to herself via
Hotmail the site opens.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?
