IE 6 crashes: dispex.dll

Internet explorer sometimes close on certain sites: “Internet explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close.†Often when I open a link from
another page. And whilst trying to send this to the group.

I have followed the crash analysis advice: checked for malicious IE add-ons,
Installed updated IE for service pack 2. All updates up to date!

‘Onspeed’ (Internet speed up program) also advised to download the latest
dispex.dll, rename the old one and copy to the system 32 file, which I did.
No luck.

McAfee reports no viruses or malicious code, as does Microsoft malicious
code checker.

Driving me crazy! Any ideas, please not another reformat and
reinstallation??? I don’t have the disks for win xp or IE. Help!

What version of Windows are you using? That file, dispex.dll, is part of
the Microsoft Windows Scripting engines:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/list/webdev.asp

A reinstall of that may fix your issue.
