ie 6.0 starts to open then closes down

I am running IE 6.0 on windows XP; when I try to open IE, the program runs
and tries to load the home or default page, then it automatically closes down
by itself.
I have tried using the restore function to last weekend, but the same thing
happened, eventhough last week, IE was fine. What could be the problem? I
would like to be able to fix it without having to clear my hard drive and
re-install win XP from the initial setup disks.

Go to Start>control panel
Open Add/Remove Programs
Scroll to the bottom and see if you have the Yahoo Toolbar installed
If you do, uninstall it
Internet Explorer should now open
