I am looking for a way to identify what product I have a cd sleeve for.
Anyone know how I can do this? I have several cd sleeve's that have key
stickers on them, but I am not sure which of my discs belong with which key.

Thanks.

if the programs are installed
you can search the registry
for them.

you don't need a third party
software for this, especially
if the parents for those unknown
keys are not installed anyways...

These are not programs that are installed as far as I know.

I was cleaning out old boxes from the previous IT person and found several
CD sleeves that have Product Keys on them (win-xp/2k/2k3 style with 5 sets
of 5 digits). There were no CD¹s in the sleeves so I have no idea what they
are for. I am hoping for a way to input the key (or part of it) and be told
it¹s for ³Windows 2003 Server Web² or something like that.

Thanks.

that's interesting.

however, one would wonder
why spend the money for software
if they were not going to be installed.

it might be likely that they were
installed at one time.

still, it would be a simple matter
to run regedit and search/scan for
a set of digits.

another option would be to
contact microsoft since they
have a db of those product keys.

i made a suggestion to them that
it would be a good idea to have
a microsoft webpage where the
product keys could be entered
and a status could be provided.
that way the key could be searched
prior to breaking the seal on
the software that may or may not
be pirated. in your case it would
have provided you with the name
of the software and whatever else
would seem fair and appropriate
to disclose.

I am finding lots of ³interesting² things from my predecessor. Thanks for
your suggestion.
