identify directory

When I have a Word file open on screen, how do I identify which directory it
has come from? I back up files from my memory stick on to my laptop, but am
not always certain which one I am working on.

File | Properties. On the General tab, the Location item will give the full
path, though you may have to scroll to see it all (if you drag your mouse
from left to right, you can select the entire thing and copy it, if
desired).

You do not say which version of Word you're using... the method varies by
version. Assuming Word 2003 or earlier, choose File - Properties - General
tab. The location is shown there.

In Word 2007, click Office button - Prepare - Properties. Location is shown
in the top line of the properties panel.

You can also set Word up so that it displays the full path in the document
title bar. Greg Maxey shows how to do this here:
