IDE/ATAPI-to-paralle didnot work in XP

Dear all,

Please help point me to a right direction.

I got an external HDD connected to my old Win98 laptop:
via parallel port (LTP) and device driver is AOKIDE ver.
2.76 (IDE/ATAPI-to-parallel).

My problem is that I am trying to connect the external
HDD to my new WinXP computer to access to my old data on
the external storage. But I couldn't. The AOKIDE is not
for WinXP.

The question is how i can be able to read my old external
storage device from a win XP computer.

I greatly appreciate for any advices that you can provide.
