IDE and SATA

What is the difference between IDE and SATA? What is
SATA? A lot of things are changing to SATA. How can I
tell the difference between IDE and SATA. Is there
anything specific I should have for SATA?

For SATA you need a motherboard, or a seperate card, that has the interface
on it
You also need SATA hd's and SATA cables plus possibly a later psu.
Personally I would'nt worry about it too much as it seems unlikely to effect

SATA = Serial Advanced Technology Attachment. The specification for IDE
interface.
Integrated Drive Electronics.Interface for connecting additional hard drives to
a computer. As opposed to Parallel ATA.

IDE is a parallel cable hook-up and SATA is a serial cable hook-up. Most of
the new Mobo's come with both connections for backward compatibility but in
the future the Sata will dominate. If you do not have the SATA connection do
not worry as a Dongle can be used in the old IDE connection.
