Hi
Is there any chance how to allow only some IP for ICS in Windows XP? I don't want whole network with access to the Internet. I was thinking about IPSec policy but maybe I'm wrong. Can somebody help me?
p.s. I can't use third party application such as firewall

I'm sorry, but ICS doesn't have the ability to block Internet access
by any computers or users.

Here's a way to do what you want: on the computers that you don't want
to have Internet access:

1. Configure the TCP/IP settings manually, assigning an IP address and
subnet mask, but no default gateway.

2. Give the users limited accounts so that they can't change the
TCP/IP settings.

A better solution might be to get a broadband router that lets you
deny Internet access to specific IP addresses.

Thanks for answer. Unfortunately I can't administrate computers of users on LAN. So TCP/IP setting isn't solution for me. But I'v heard that IPSec can block IP addresses ports etc. But what setting I need?

As Steve suggested, ditch ICS and pick up a broadband router/firewall that
has this capability. ICS stinks, in my opinion, anyway.

I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with IPSec, and I can't answer your
question.

There's a lot of information available on IPSec in the Windows XP Help
and Support program.

In my experience, ICS in Windows XP (and 2000) is easy to set up and
reliable, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

ICS in Windows Me and Windows 98 Second Edition is harder to set up
and less reliable, and I wouldn't use it if XP or a broadband router
is available.

But they're always available, and a lot more reliable than ICS in any
version of Windows ;-)
