ICS shared but not connectable through client

I have 2 xp-pro machines connected via ethernet nics to an
8 port switch.

ICS is enabled on the host (xp-pro)
internet runs and files share between both machines

ICS doesnt show anymore as a "connect to" in the Start
menu of the client machine OR as a connected icon on the
lower toolbar. But the strange thing is the browser pages
in explorer and mozilla still load (albeit slowly). This
used to work fine, but all of a sudden 3 days ago it has
stopped.

All firewalls (software only) have been disabled.

Does anyone know if the new beta version of MS-Antispyware
has any problems with ICS on Xp-pro (& home) sp1. Even
though i can browse as prev mentioned, i can't not d/load
updates as is says there is no internet connection.

I'm stuck using a 56k dial-up connection as broadband
still isn't avail in my area.

Further to the problem:

I have:
A.1 xp-home laptop
B.1 xp-pro desktop (which i want to ICS with)
C.1 xp-pro laptop

No matter what i do i can't get B. to create an Internet
Gateway for the other two machines. I have succesffully
created Internet Gateways that operational from B via the
other machines. But B still fails to create a gateway.

All firewalls and anti-spyware / virus software has been
disabled.

This problem is specific to one machine only, so leads me
to believe there is a fault with Xp on the B machine. Is
there any known patch to reset ICS on xp-pro. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled ICS via "add remove software >
Windows programs" but this also does nothing.

I would prefer not to have to re-install windows again on
this machine.

Disabling software firewall often has no effect. Uninstall any 3rd party
firewall on the B laptop. Once you have a LAN connection and ICS established
by running the Network Wizard then re-install.
I couldn't get my network and ICS set-up with disabled firewall ZA.
Uninstalled it , bang , everything up and running. Then re-install ZA and no
problems since.
