ICS Help

P

Patrick Brennan

I have a small domain. The W2K server is running AD and
DNS. I have configured the ISP connection to allow ICS. I
have noticed on several of my domains that have the
identical setup are causing the following event log error

source: ipnathlp
eventID: 31002

The DNs proxy agent was unable to bind to the IP address
192.168.0.1 This error may indicate a problem with the
TCP/IP networking. The date is the error code.

NOTE: I do not see any problems with resolving DNS or
network connectivety issues. Everything works well.

Can anyone shed some insight.

Thankyou

You can't use ICS in a domain setup. ICS sets up a DNS proxy so that all
DNS requests go to the DNS server at your ISP. But AD requires that your
clients use your local DNS.

You will need to use NAT for Internet sharing, and modify your local DNS
to forward to the DNS server at your ISP.
