ICS for Broadband (PPoE) and WLAN adapter

Hi,
I have a broadband connection on my PC, which i connect using one NIC card
installed. I have an office laptop with a wi-fi adapter which i bring home to
work from home. I installed a Wi-Fi adapter on my PC intending to access the
internet by making my PC as a gateway (via wi-fi adapter). I installed the
wi-fi adapter on the PC and configured ICS on the PC. When i run Network
Setup Wizard, it says "The wizard detected that this computer belongs to a
domain. Therefore, you cannot use this wizard to setup a network".

My Laptop ofcourse is a part of my office domain, but i remember when i went
to Germany, we had an Access Point and we used to directly connect to the AP
and get connected to the internet, without setting up ICS or any
configuration for that matter!

There's one more thing, that i can see a wi-fi network when i turn on the
wi-fi adapter on my PC. I even get connected, but i cant access the PC from
my laptop, neither can i access the internet.

Anyone can help on this?

Since your laptop belongs to your office domain, I recommend
consulting with the network administrators at the office. They know
how their network is set up. They can tell you whether the changes
that you want to make are allowed by company policy. They can tell
you how to make the changes while maintaining full office network
capabilities.

You should not need to run the wizard on the laptop.

The vast majority of domains will be set up with a DHCP server providing IP
addresses, and ICS running on your home machine provides the same service.

The laptop will almost certainly be configured to 'obtain an IP address
automatically'. This should work on your home network.

Ensure the wireless security settings are set the same on both the PC and
the laptop.
On the laptop, does it show that you are connected the PC?
Then, go to a command prompt onn the laptop, and run 'ipconfig /all', and
see what IP address has been assigned.
If ICS is working, it should be issuing a 192.168.0.x address.
If you have another address, then run 'ipconfig /renew' and see what
happens.

Once you have got a 192.168.0.x address, try to ping the ICS machine using
it's IP address by using the command 'ping 192.168.0.1'

Hi Ron,
Thanx for the help. The Laptop does get connected to my PC over the WLAN
adapter, Laptop is assigned an IP adderss, DHCP and i can even ping my PC
i.e. 192.168.0.1. But when i access any site, i just cannot. When i ping
www.google.com, it says "Ping request could not find www.google.com". I tried
accessing google.com with its IP address, that didnt work either. A ping to
IP address of google give a "request Timed Out".

Would this be a problem with settings in IE or Adapter on my LAPTOP or with
the ICS settings of my PC?

Do help me out with this. Thanx a lot!

Also need to know one more thing, how do i disable ICS on my PC? I cant see
an option of ICS in any of the connections, either the WLAN connection or the
LAN connection (under the "Advanced" tab of the connections).

There's one thing about the wi-fi adapter i have. I see an option of
"Bridging" in the settings of the adapter, wherein i can see the other NIC
card which i have installed on my PC. What do we use "briding for WLAN Will
tat solve my problem of internet access?
