Hi!

Got a trouble sharing Internet Connection (ICS),

XP PRO SP2 (all) - On a LAN ---Network Wizard - I Setup the Internet
Connection Sharing. No other network Trouble

Now I Can Browse Internet from all computers. -

TROUBLE: From client Computers I cannot Access mail, messenger, https - I
had run Troubleshooting - Ran Network Wizard again (first on host then
Clients) - Got nothing......
Checked the services.....-

I think this should be related to NAT, ...when I connect through proxy from
the HOST Computer, I cannot even browse the http pages FROM CLIENTS.
I tried to change the host an clients :> No Problems

how can I setup NAT.

any suggestions except Formatting the windows is appreciated ;-)
thanks in advance,

Hi

There should be no problem accessing email etc. through ICS. First, do you
have a firewall installed on the ICS host? If you do and it's not the XP
one then reduce the Internet Security setting to Medium and/or add your LAN
subnet to the Trusted Zone.

The second thing I'd suggest is going to this page www.dslreports.com/tools
and run the Tweak test. Make any recommended changes and reboot your system
for them to take effect, do that on all the PCs on your LAN including the
ICS host. See if those suggestions help and post again if you still have
problems.

Thanks Phoenix,

But it's not a Firewall issue 'cause I turned off LAN FW, and even Internet
connection itself to test ....,

is there a way to control NAT in XP pro , as we do in 2000

this is related to one of my computer which I HAVE TO use for ICS host ,
and when I am using the others for host there's no problem

thanks,

Hi

Can I just confirm your setup. You currently have one PC as the ICS host
and several PCs that access the internet through this host. You say you can
browse the internet (using IE?) from the clients but not use https, mail or
messenger. I also assume you have no problems from the ICS host using any
of those features. Is that basically the situation you have?

When you talk about NAT, I guess you're talking about the NAT feature of
ICS? Did you run the Tweak test I posted the link fro in the last message?
Can you also post details of an 'ipconfig /all' (run from a command prompt
without quotes, sorry if you already know that) from the ICS host and one
of the clients. Just for information, which firewall do you have and how
did you disable it?

I can say that there should be no problems accessing any of those services
on your LAN using ICS as the router.

Thanks Bill,

--------THANKS

--------ASSUMPTIONS ....
Yes! I have no problem in ICS Host.
As you said I mean the NAT feature of ICS.

Yes, I know there should be no problems , but there is 'cause I used to use
ICS on the same host for the same clients before....:-?

---------TWEAK....
I tried to check that tweak , It didn't run, Error, error, retried after
hours.... :-(

--------WHAT I USE, HOW I USE...
I use IE, Firefox, Opera(r), everything ok on clients till I try to use a
secure site (which needs tunnling) or checking mail or using msn
messenger(r) or others.
I use MS Windows (r) firewall on the Host and Zone Alarm Pro(5.....)(r) on
client(s). I just turned off the Windows(r) firewall on the Host (for all
connection)
and temporarily shut down the Zone......... on the client(s)

-------------IP Config ....
I don't know what exactly you want but I checked both host and client - I
checked there is no problem, one important part that you may meant:

both:
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes

anything else? tell me please,

---------ANOTHER ISSUE...
One another thing that may be useful that when I connect to a server (ISP)
which have a Proxy server my CLIENTS even cannot connect to http( I don't
need to configure proxy setting on my HOST for this connection----AGAIN, NO
problem in the ICS Host)

Thanks,
