This is normal behavior. Windows is hiding some of your notifications to
keep more of the TaskBar available. It hides ones whose programs have been
idle. If you want to change this behavior, right click on the TaskBar and
make sure it is unlocked (Lock the Taskbar needs to be unchecked). Then
right click on the Taskbar and choose Properties. On the Taskbar tab
uncheck the botttom checkbox (Hide Inactive Icons). Click Apply and OK and
then lock the TaskBar again.

Recently the icons for my broadband, network, speaker etc do not appear in
the right hand box but the date ,time and day with icons for AVG and Zone
Alarm appear. But sometimes they come back.
How can I cure this?
