Adding items to icons on left border of "Save As dialogue boxes

Is there a way to add items to the icons on the left border of the "Save As"
or "Open" dialog boxes for NON-Microsoft software packages (e.g., Adobe
Acrobat, Eudora, etc.)? This is the dialog box that appears when Save As is
clicked in the File pull-down menu. By default, the icons in the left border
in this dialog box include: "My Recent Documents", "Desktop", "My Documents",
"My Computer" and "My Network". I would like to add "Favorites" to this list.

You can't have any more than 5 places in that bar, but you can
change each of the default locations. The easiest way to do
this is with a program available from Microsoft called TweakUI.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP

Direct Download of TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once the program is installed, go to Start -> All Programs ->
Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI.
Click the plus sign next to Common Dialogs and click on Places
Bar.
In the right hand pane, select Custom places bar.
You can now change any or all of the 5 default places to ones
of your choosing.

Here are a couple of articles with more info.

This is very helpful! Thanks. I have one comment, though. The "Places" bar
in my versions of MS Word and Excel (Office 2003) already has 6 items in it.
