Icons move on their own?

I have a brand new Dell laptop, and I'm running an
external monitor through a Dell port replicator. The
problem is, whenever I restart the computer, my icons move
themselves around! They're not where I left them. Anyone
have any ideas as to why this happens?

used to have a similar problem with my vaio. the easiest
solution is to just go to this page:
http://download.com.com/3302-2347-10163500.html

there's a 281kb file that will install an icon save/
restore function when you right click on your recycle
bin. it's very quick and painless to install and use. let
your icons move around all they want to. you won't have
to worry about it anymore.
