icons messed up on the Desktop after changing screen resolution

When I switch from the 1024x768 to 640x480 screen resolution to do an TV-NTSC screen show of some pictures, the layout of ll my Desktop icons is completely messed up (Win2K Pro SP4 on IBM ThinkPad T23). Is there a way to prevent that from occurring or, at least, to store and retrieve the Desktop layout after the resolution change

That is normal. There are several utilities which will allow you to
save the positions, including...
Activicons (freeware) - http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_aifw.html for
links (the options to save and restore the arrangement are on its
"Desktop Controls" screen).

EZ-Desk ($15) - http://www.ezwaretech.com/

Both will save/restore multiple arrangements (e.g., for different
users or different arrangements for normal and Safe mode, etc.).

(don't live at a com or net - address listed is altered)
