Desktop - wierd "line up icons" issue

Running W2K, SP4.

After applying the option 'Use Large Icons" in "Display Properties >
Effects" my desktop icons resized and the large icons were lined up
corrently. However, this didn't meet my expectations and I returned to the
'normal' settings (removed the 'Use large icons' option again). As a result
my icons resized to normal, but they still seem to be on the 'large icon'
raster, kind of messing up my desktop lineup now.

Anyone have seen this before?

Display Properties>Appearance>Item Scroll down to "Icon Spacing" (horizontal
and vertical).
