Anyone know why IE does not keep the icons once you add a website to your
Favorites menu? An example would be like the Yahoo "Y!" icon. It stays for
a while then disappears. Is this a flaw in IE6? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Known as "favicons" or Favorite Icons...
When you clear the Internet Temp files
the favicons are cleared.

Check: Tools > Options > Advanced tab.
Security section:
[x] Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when
browser is closed.
Make desired changes and exit out.

Find these FREE programs:
FAVORG "or" FAVICONIZER
These will save the icons in a different
folder and fixes your favorites
with the favicon icons.

The icon is displayed from IE's "Temporary Internet Files" cache
folders. Eventually these fill up and are deleted.

You can make an icon permanent by storing it in a folder outside of
the Temporary Internet Files folders. Then just right-click your
favorite, go to Properties, then to the Web Document tab and use the
Change Icon button to point to the new icon location. You can also use
this to point the favorite to a custom icon you have made.
