Hi,
I have been having problems with my screensavers and have a question under
screensavers still to be fixed but now I have an icon problem.

I must of clicked on something while tring to fix my screensaver problem.
Now and 'm getting this icon of a plug on my system tray. When I right click
it I'm told to "Adjust Power Properties". I don't know what to do.... Could
someone please help me with this.... Also when I put my mouse on it I get "On
AC power".....

I'm not very computer smart yet. So I would be very greatful if some one
can help me fix this. Thank you all very much!

Open control panel.

Click on "Power Options"

Click on the "Advanced" tab

UNCHECK "Always show icon on the taskbar"

That will remove the icon on ur system tray.

Good luck!

Barbara, there are several resources that might be useful as you learn
about XP. One is the built in Help and Support. There is a lot of info
there. Go to Start, click on Help and Support. One of the features is
a Search function. Search on power, power icon and power options to see
what's offered. A few minutes in there would lead you to the Power
Options dialog box with the setting to show or not show the power icon
on the taskbar.

Another excellent resource is http://www.google.com/- either in the
basic search or advanced search modes. You can search the web or
newsgroups.

Putting the phrase power+icon+in+taskbar+XP gives many links some which
lead you to the result you wanted.

I hope this is helpful.

Dear Rock,

Thank you very much for your advice. I did go to "Help and Support" that's
how I learn't that there is a community of experts out there that can help
people like me. Never the less I will go back and try to find an answere.
This is a very complicate problem for me (regarding my screensaver problem
listed under screensavers) and it's hard to figure out what things mean. As
for this icon problem it is fixed. I do appreciate your advice though thank
you.

Icon problem has been fixed and I appreciate the help that I received very
much from
Jay. He saved me a lot of time and fustration if I was to try and lern this
problem on my own. Thank you!

Highest regards~

Yes the screensaver problem is a different issue, that help and support
won't be of much use for. 3rd party software installs can cause alot of
trouble, and as you've found it's not always easy recovering from them.

XP's system restore tool can be helfpul, but I know in your case it
didn't help. That's one reason why I use a drive imaging program to
save an image of the drive to an external hard drive. Then if something
happens that I can't recover by other means I just reimage the drive and
it' back in business.

But for getting information on features and how to do things in XP it is
a great resource. Google is an excellent resource when researching a
problem and looking for a resolution.
