Unkown System Tray Icon

Hello.

I recently noticed an icon in my system tray. It looks like a CD with
a lock on it and when I mouse over it, it says ROXIO_USBDAPP. On
clicking there is no application that maximizes and no context menu.
Now seeing as I am paranoid, I would like to know what application that
icon represents and I would like to know whether it's on the up and up.
Has anyone heard of this icon before? Can anyone tell me how to
discover the mapping from system tray icons to application names?

Thanks in advance.

Roxio make CD burning software, so its probably to do with that if you have
that installed?

I thought of that, but I'd still like to find out what the ?^&% this
thing is. When I'm not burning CDs what is it doing there?

Hi, not an expert but been spending immense time on cleaning that stuff up.
roxio may or may not be a problem, just that I have that app as well & have
been working on subject matter of AV/AS antivirus antispyware apps.

at next link found some answers
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...rosoft.private.security.spyware.announcements

found procedure at next link (my opinion is virus apps / keyloggers / spy
apps are somewhere just under 100% prevailing) e.g.: checking java listed as
keylogger: Wildtangent. anyways steps are my removing all small apps don't
need, using deep scan only to find wildtangent keeps re-applying itself...
found procedures at:

www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html

Trying zonelabs zonealarm suite free 15-day seems ok, but have to restrict
settings.
if you let them auto adjust, they have a setting screen that lets Ebay have
full access to your computer (whats up with that). I'm not paranoid.. its
true

oh yea: right click your taskbar (bottom), properties, customize, see icon
info where might search for keywords on your c: drive? else set to always
off etc...

Ask Roxio. Open task manager and see what program is associated with it.

Roxio is a program to handle media, and burn CD's, which you obviously have
downloaded on your computer. www.roxio.com can answer any questions you
might have.

Try task manager. Look for anything labeled ROXIO in applications o
processes. If you find something in apps, simply end the task. I
you find something in processes, only stop it if it is being ru
under your user name. If there is an icon, a form of it will be i
the task manager

It must be Roxio's Drag & Drop function. This allows you to use a CD as
a huge disk like a floppy drive. On my system it is called "Roxio
Drag-To-Disc". You must have a USB based device on which you are using
Roxio.

Hmm. You may be right about the drag and drop thing. I didn't think
that I had any ROXIO stuff installed, but apparently, they make Sonic.

Anyway, I'll ask Roxio about this one, but is there are general
procedure for finding out what process an icon in the system tray is
associated with? I can find a process name in the task manager that
seems likely sometimes, but I can't find any this time. The task
manager only displays the icons that reside in the task bar, not in the
system tray.

Any more help?

Start/Run type in MSCONFIG and hit enter. Look at the Start Up tab and
find it and its path there.
