Icon not loading in system tray - new version

S

Sue

I've checked the headers here and don't see any reference
to my problem. I've updated to the new version. The
program used to load the icon into system tray
automatically on boot up. That no longer occurs.

In msconfig, the following is checked to load: C:\Program
Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe. When I look at
running process, gcasServ.exe and gcasDtServ.exe are
running.

To do a manual scan, I can load the interface from the
shortcut. At that point, processes show the two above
running along with GIANTAntispywareMain.exe.

Anyone else with this problem or know of a way to fix the
problem.

This is not a problem with MSAS, but a long-standing bug in XP, in that it
does not always display all notification area icons, even when configured to
display all icons.

The work-around is to Log Off and Log On again: then all icons will be
shown.

If you Restart, the problem will re-appear.

Thanks for the reply. The work-around was successful.

Is the program running the way it should if I do NOT use
the work-around and don't see the icon? Just wondering
if I'm fully protected if I do NOT take the time to
perform the work-around.

The problem is purely a visual rendering problem in Windows XP and has
nothing to do with MSAS.
