Icon Location, Please

I need to resore the icon for my .gif files. They open with the Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer.

I go to Tools\Folder Options\File Types and scroll down to and select GIF,
then click Advanced\Change Icon\Browse. I browse to %SystemRoot%\system32
\SHELL32.dll, which is where most of the Windows icons are, but there's
nothing there for the Picture and Fax Viewer.

Anyone know where it is?

Thanks,
Bruce

While holding the 'Shift' key down right-click on a gif file and select
'Open with'. Windows Picture and Fax Viewer will probably be listed but
select 'Chose Program' instead. Then put a check mark next to 'Always Use
the Selected Program............" . Then select the program you want this
file type to open with.

A minor point, but holding down the shift key isn't required in
WIndows XP. The Open With choice is
on the regular right-click menu.

If I remember correctly, you had to hold the shift key down in
Windows 98.

The gif does automatically open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, as do
my jpg's, but I did try that method. No joy. I had to use the Tool
\Options...etc\Advanced...etc and browse to shimgvw.dll to get the proper
icon back.

Thanks,
Bruce
