Hello -

With ICF turned on, how can I configure it so a specific machine can access
a hidden share on my machine?

Thanks,

Sean

Look at the advanced tab on the setup. Even better,
download Zone Alarm (free) from www.zonelabs.com and install
it. Then you can turn the XP firewall off and ZA is easy to
configure and it will provide easy control of trusted zone
computers and logs in and out bound traffic. You can
control individual programs.

Greetings --

You cannot use the ICF in this manner, not can Microsoft
networking by so configured.

Using the ICF, you can manually specify which ports remain open,
but they'd be open to all.

Using Windows networking and NTFS file permissions, you can
control _who_ may access files and folders, but not limit it to
specific machines.

In addition to subsequent comments, I'd advise caution with any share
that allows write access to the startup axis, or any other "auto-run
opportunity" locations. These will allow malware active on one PC to
flit across and infect others.

That makes c$ a liability, as well as anything that full-shares the OS
subtree, all of "Documents and settings", or entire user account
subtrees (think Win.ini, System.ini, StartUp groups).

Running Windows-based av to kill active malware is like striking
a match to see if what you are standing in is water or petrol.
