Say, my home network has a laptop and a desktop. If I turn on ICF on my
desktop, will this prevent my laptop from printing to a share printer on my
desktop ? If so, can I go around this ?

Thanks
Steve

It shouldn't, have you tried setting it up, if so , what if any error
msgs did you receive ?

Hi,

If you have SP2 installed, then this shouldn't be a problem. Prior to this,
SP1 and pre-SP, there have been documented problems with file and printer
sharing with the ICF enabled.

The desktop had NAV, and some viruses got in and messed up the Internet
Security in NAV. I can't reinstall NAV yet since the CD is missing. So I
figured I could try ICF in the meantime.

As for the laptop, I don't have it with me either. That's why I'm here
trying to have an idea ahead of time in terms of ICF in the LAN.

When NAV was still working, I had to enter the IP of the laptop into its
settings so that the laptop can print. Now I'm wondering if ICF requires
something like that.

Anyway, I'll try and find out.

Thanks
Steve
ps. My desktop is XP SP1

Thanks very much ... great tip.

I'll check it out when I get to the desktop.
