IBM Control Panel Not Responding

Can anyone please explain to me what happens to IBM's that causes
their Control Panels to Not Respond to windows when you try to change
to Classic View and/or when you click on an item that changes the task
pane on the left hand side? I have seen this with countless IBM
computers however I have not yet found a cause or a viable solution
other than reloading the system. I have tried repair installs, sfc
/scannow, misc control panel ini editing, etc and to no avail.

Can anyone please help me or point me in the right direction for a
cause and solution? These are ALL Windows XP systems.

If this is the wrong newsgroup, can someone please point me in the
direction of the right one?

Thank You,

Freddyb

I had already tried that as stated in my previous post. It did not
resolve the problem. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Well, I found the problem on this particular IBM, and I am hoping that
it will remain the same problem on all the other IBMs that I have seen
this on and will see this on again in the future. If the system had
SP2 on it I think I could have used the Manage Add Ons option to fix
this as well. Read below if your interested:

Condition:

--When changing to Classic View/Category view in the Control Panel the
Control Panel will freeze and an attempt to close it will display the
End Now dialogue box.
--When clicking on any item in the Control Panel in Category View the
Control Panel will freeze and an attempt to close it will display the
End Now dialogue box.
--The computer is an IBM with the IBM DLA software installed.

Cause:

The following BHO does not work with Windows well:

BHO: DriveLetterAccess - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} -
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll

It will cause the Control Panel to malfunction.

Cure:

--Download BHODemon from
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=3550&file=9&evp=245a87539eea8ed6904332b4b8b8442d
--Run BHODemon and disable tfswshx.dll.
--Open Control Panel and verify that the Control Panel is no longer
malfunctioning.
