Iam unable to totally disable XP (SP2) firewall..... I am not able to access
online gaming servers at all as well as some web sites. It seems that if I
disable the firewall through the security center link nothing happens (still
no access). The status for firewall in the security center remains "on" no
matter what setting I select.. How can I turn firewall ALL the way off?

start/run, type: services.msc

Go to the Windows Firewall service, and set to 'disabled' (Not 'manual' or 'auto')
