I wish Normal.dot would mind its own business

Hi Tony:

I followed the instructions exactly and repeated the process several times,
first with the "data" item, then with the "word" item. No luck. Problem
persists.

I'll sit on the problem for a few more days, but if there's nothing else to
try, then I'll get rid of my auto save software and look for something else.

Thanks again for all your help.

Best Regards.

I've spent another two hours trying everything I could think of, but without
success. I've asked for my money back from the developer. So that's it.

I want to thank you again for your generousity.

All the best, Don

Hi Tony.

I don't know if you're still subscribed to this thread, but I wanted to
let you know that I've been working on the problem steadily and the last
thing I tried seems to have worked. What I did was remove Word 2002 and
install my old Word '97. Then, after removing the auto save (cleanly) and
reinstalling it, the darn thing started to work again, perfectly. I had
asked for my money back from them, and I won't interfere with that process.
However, if it continues to work, I'll pay for it again (assuming they follow
through and give me my money back).

It would seem to me that there was some kind of corruption in my Word 2002
that couldnt' be removed by reinstalling it. Doesn't matter Word '97 works
fine for me.

Hi Don,

I'm happy that you're working again although don't understand quite why :)

If you're working with Word 97, you ought to be able to work with 2002 - the
only difference is in the registry key (well, obviously there are more
differences but that's all that should have any significance). Is that the
first time you had uninstalled and reinstalled AutoSave?

Hi Tony:

Yes, I reinstalled Auto-Save many times during the process. So I guess
this will remain one of life's small mysteries.

You're a generous guy. Thanks again for all your help. I learned a lot
during the process.

Take care, Don.
