i want to use Word 2003 toolbar

Can I change the 2007 Word Toolbar back to the 2003 Word toolbar.

No.

(You can get emulators that _sort of_ do it for you, but it's a lot
easier to put the things you use often onto the Quick Access Toolbar,
and position it below the Ribbon.)

I could swear I saw a download on the MS website for $16 that did this .....
aaargh. I see most of it is all there but a lot more work to get to using
this new Ribbon contraption. Does that download only work for word or is it
for all the office programs?

Having used Word since the Windows 3.2 version, this has been the single
most frustrating change ever for me. I had customized my toolbars in
previous version so I was one click away from the things I did frequently and
could hide the things I never used.

You'll be one click away from the things you do frequently if you add
them to the Quick Access Toolbar (for any command that's on the Ribbon
somewhere, right-click on it; for commands you can't find on the
Ribbon, right-click on the QAT and choose Customize, then All Commands
from the dropdown. Sometimes you have to guess about the name MS has
given to the command you're looking for in that list.)

And while you're in Customize, you can arrange the buttons on the QAT
in whatever order seems most convenient.

To hide the Ribbon almost completely, double-click on any of its tabs.
Then single-clicking any tab brings it back for the moment, double-
clicking brings it back to stay.

Position your QAT below the Ribbon for shorter mouse-travel.

And, of course, all the keyboard shortcuts you used to use still work
the same.
