I want to block some senders, but that option is greyed out.

I am reading different newsgoups and every now and then someone put some
porn up there.

When I got to 'Block Sender' it is greyed out.

How can they turn off that option?

Without seeing the headers of the messages in question, who knows for
certain. There could be nothing in the headers for it to be able to select
an address to block.

If it's just random posts the e-mail address to block may be used just one
time and blocking it will be pointless.

Hit the Delete key instead, much easier.

DGuess,

Here is the header;

Thanks for any help.

The From header does not have a fully qualified e-mail address and thus
can't filter on it.

So I guess they have found a work around for being a BLOCKED SENDER?

Also, DGuess, how do I 'Run Rules'? There isn't a button to 'Run Rule Now'.

Go to Tools, Message rules, Mail (or News), select a rule, Apply Now.

Glad you found it. However, it is in the same place it was in OE.
