i want it to prompt me to save or open

When I click on a zip file, or go to a URL with a
http://www.whatever.com/afile.zip exptention, my computer
automatically wants to open the file. It no longer
prompts me to save it to my hard drive. Is there a way to
reinstate the "Always ask before opening this type of
file" thing. I never want it to open, i want to save it,
but it won't let me. Please help me.
