I see Garbage instead of Word Document

Dear Friends

When I open any word documents, I see this message "File Conversion: Select
the encoding that makes your document readable" then I have three choices
"Windows(default), MS-DOS, Other encoding". In Preview pane, I see garbage
instead of word document.

I have tried to open "open and repair" using word 2003 and 2007 plateforms
but the same problem.

Can anybody tell me how can I fix this problem?

I have tried to open this file on multiple computers and using multiple
versions (2003, 2007). but all in vain.

Any idea?

If it's just this one doc it's possible that the doc is corrupt. A couple of
thoughts if you can at least open the doc:

1- Select every thing but the last ¶ & paste to a new blank doc;
Ctrl+A, Shift+Left Arrow, Ctrl+C is the easiest way to get it copied.

2- If that doesn't work try opening the doc by going into the Open dialog &
selecting "Recover Text From Any File" in the File Types: list.

There could also be font issues involved depending on the origin of the doc.
