I open word document and all i get it weird letters and numbers

Hi,
I had written a paper at my bf's house. Saved it to his computer and sent it
to my email. I opened it when i got home and made corrections. Saved it ...
or so i thought. I cant find my revised document. I did hit save but idk
where it is. well i think I found it , but im not sure. I open this document
and all i get is weird numbers and letters is there a way to fix this?
