I/O Error

This happened out of the blue when i try to access my dvd-ram drive i get
the msg
Drive Matshita UJ-811 in dynabook laptop Running XP Pro
g: is not accessible
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

I need help i have tried everything i know does any one have a idea on this
one?
