I need to download Win XP SP2 but I realized I already have Win XP SP3
downloaded in my computer. What should I do? Should I removed the SP3 first
before I download the SP2 or I can just download SP2 without removing the
SP3. Either or, I am afraid that some software or applications might not work
properly. Please help me. Thanks...

Thanks for a quick reply.

Ok I just wanna make sure that I understand this correctly. You mean I can
removed the SP3 and then install the SP2 right? But can I installed SP3 back
after I've done all the installations for SP2 including the updates?

It doesn't matter what pack you've got installed. Just download it.

Stupid question, but I have to ask.
You're not going to try to install it on top of SP3, right?

I guess not. That was actually my first question. If i can download SP2 on
top of SP3. But then since you gave me the link to uninstall SP3, I figured
that's the proper way to do it. Uninstall SP3 then install SP2..

Thanks for your help...

If your PC previously had SP2 installed and then
you installed SP3, then yes after you uninstall SP3
you will be back to SP2.

Also after uninstalling SP3 do this:
Start/Run and enter: winver

If the display says SP2 then there is no
need to reinstall SP2.

You can always reinstall SP3 at a later time
if you choose to do so.

You meant "install", not "download".

SP3 contains SP2, so if you have SP3 installed, why do you
want to install SP2? It doesn't make any sense. Please satisfy
my curiosity, you may have a reason I haven't considered.

AAron - It is not necessary to install SP2 - each succeeding SP contains all
information contained in previous SPs. e.g. SP3 contains all "fixes"
contained in SP2.
