*i need help on Recovery Console...
-My computer had problem today and i have found that the problem was
"UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME".
i also have found that it's either caused by wrong file system or cable
problem.

Anyway, while i was reading information about this particular error message,
i also read about installing Recovery Console in a tiny partition(About 7MB).
i don't really mind which partition i need to install the Recovery Console,
but i do not have XP CD. My computer is installed by a partition says "System
Restore" and this partition can only recover the OS, pretty much different as
XP CDs work.

i wonder if i can install Recovery Console to my hard drive. Please tell me
how to install Recovery Console to my hard drive without XP CD.(Downloading
from website is fine.)

Hi,

Locate the I386 folder placed on your system by the manufacturer. This is
where your XP installation files are placed for your use if need for file
replacement, etc. Make note of this location, usually something like
C:\I386, then click start/run and type:

C:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

Click ok, and this will install the Recovery Console as a boot option for
you. It will suffice for most console operations, there is no need to
install it to a separate partition.

Why? Most of their "cures" involve wiping and reloading - and that's
ridiculous. This problem can often be resolved by running chkdsk from the
recovery console, it's just that the OEM builders do not include a CD to run
it from.
