I need a reference to the correct resource to correct my problem

In March of this year, I had a lot of computer problems.
I changed the C drive and upgraded from Windows 98 to
Windows XP. My computer and printer have been working
fine since that time. Things changed 5 days ago when
suddenly my printer stopped working.

I've been on every web site and tried to track down this
solution. I have learned that my printer will work
in "notepad" but not in Lotus Smart Suite - Word Pro or
in Microsoft Word, both of which are on my computer.
Lotus [IBM] is sending me the newest version of Smart
Suite free. I want to thank them. But I don't know if
the problem is with Windows.

The only downloads I make are when I get a notice from
Windows or McAfee that tells me that I need to upgrade.

Please help me understand where to go to get resolution
to these problems.
