i have redirected the my documents folder to a partition named g:\

so the new path is g:\documents and settings\steve\my documents ( have done
this by right clicking the my docs folder and editing the target location).

when i try to install paint shop pro 8 it wants to install a folder called
'my psp' into the my documents folder.

the system is returning an error during installation that says, 'ms
installer does not have the neccesary permission to access g:\documents and
settings\steve.

how can i give ms installer permission to access this folder and create the
directory that it wants to?

thanks.

Hi Steve

When you redirected My Documents, the associated Registry keys may not have
been updated at the same time. I use Tweak UI to redirect various folders,
instead of the right click method - that way all registry entries a re
'carried forward' as well.

Hi Steve,

Give this a try:

Navigate to g:\documents and settings\steve\my documents\my psp folder.
Right-click on the folder, select properties, then Security tab. If there's
no Security tab, go to Tools>Folder Options>View tab, scroll to near the
bottom and uncheck "Use simple file sharing", click Apply, then OK. Now
right-click on the above-mentioned folder, Properties, Security tab. In
"Group or user names" field, select your user name and, perhaps,
Administrator. In the "Permissions" field, ensure that Allow is selected for
all the options, then click Apply then OK. If you want, do the same for the
g:\documents and settings folder itself. Restart. See if you can now
successfully install Paint Shop Pro.

Regards,
