I wish it only would take minutes! But even if the OP happens to change
IP addresses, if the board doesn't have much volume, her stalker may be
able to deduce who she is.

You should be able to change the IP address by going to command prompt
and giving
ipconfig /release

and then shutting down and restarting to register a new one.
(ipconfig /registerdns
might do this, but the close and restart is more certain).

But I really doubt if the stalker is following a specific IP address, as
opposed to mail address or other handle that is displayed on the board -
as seen in the listing of messages on this group

FYI - the op is on cable broadband and 99% of the time a ipconfig /release
and then reboot will give you the same ip address over and over. This is how
most cable systems work. The only way to get a new ip is to cut power to the
modem for hours, possibly a day. Then the dhcp server will release your
origianl ip and give it to someone else and you'll get a new one. Otherwise
the dhcp server "remembers" the modem mac and sends the same ip address. In
a years time, I'll get about two different ip's for the year unless I cut
the modem power.

*plonk* I was hoping there might be a way to do similar on whatever the
server/service is. Am expert I ain't nor never pretended to be :-~
