i have a hard drive that kicks in whenever it wants

a hard dirve i have in an older comp kicks in whenever it wants,i have
checked for any virus scnas or disk defrags or anything set up to come on,but
nothing is set up that way?? any sugessstions??
 
Go to the HDD Manufa site and check what utilties they have or find some HDD
testing program. If its WD use Data lifeguard tools from their site.
 
Go to your HD manfacturer's site and check of they have a utility program,
like Western Digital's data life guard to run tests.
