I had several messages on my old dial up account that were unread now at startup

I just recently changed from a dial up provider to a
cable provider I had several messages on my old dial up
account that were unread now at startup under my user
account it still tells me that there is messages waiting
I cannot remove them as I no longer have the dial up
provider how do I remove these messages from my system

Hi Angie,

You can use TweakUI to correct the unread messages count. Under tweakUI,
navigate to Repair and choose 'unread message count' from the drop-down menu
and click repair.
