Ok this is wird, every time when i try to open Internet
Explorer there is a pause and a message pops up in place
of IE : "Explorer has encountered a unexpected error and
needs to close" and Explorer (windows and IE) proceeds to
shut down completely.
The odd thing is that I can acess the Internet by
opening a non-internet folder and typing in the adress
bar where I'd like to go, and all of the other internet-
related programs can acess the net, such as games and
windows update.
Also, if I am surfing using a normal system folder and I
open a new window or recieve a Popup, windows explorer
shuts down like above.
This is really getting on my nerves as I have done
numerous virus scans and chkdsk'd several times. I need a
solution fast. I am running WinXP Home on a HPxt953
system.

This is probably due to a spyware program
but could also possibly be a virus.

Let's do this:

Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab

Delete all cookies
Delete all temporary internet files
(include all offline content)
Remove all Downloaded Program Files
To do that, you click on that "settings"
button and then click on the "View Objects"
button and then right click and choose remove
for all of them, if any, one at a time.
Close the Downloaded Program Files window,
Click OK to the Settings window.
Now clear History

Now click on the "Advanced" tab at the top
of Internet Options.
In the Browsing section, uncheck the box for
"Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)"
Click "Apply" and then "OK" at the bottom
of Internet Options
Close out of Control Panel

Restart the computer

Download one or both of these Anti Spyware programs
and install them, update them and scan your system
and delete any spywares that may be found. If you have a
working Anti Virus program, then update it and scan with it,
otherwise use one of these free online virus scanners:
