Bill T.

I'm having trouble connecting to the net. I can connect to
my ISP, but I get the message, Cannot find server or DNS
error." Web pages will not open! I've tried everything I
can think of to fix it, but nothing has worked. I'm using
XP Home/I.E. 6.x/Outpost/1.0. NetZero, my ISP has been no
help. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

Bill,

Try going into the dos prompt and typing in PING
WWW.YAHOO.COM and pressing enter. If you get 4 packets
sent and 4 received then it is your browser causing the
problem. Also does this occur when you try going to any
website or just one in particular? Also is this a
broadband connection or Dialup?

Hi

Try the following - where do you come across 'Request Time Out'?

ping 127.0.0.1
ping localhost

ping your computer's address
ping the IP address of your router or default gateway

ping the IP address of your DNS Server

ping an outside IP Address - not www.microsoft.com

try pingpath for the same IP address as in the above.
