I've got too much in my sys tray at start-up as it is.
I've got my own passive security already in place that's
been working fine already. Why didn't I get the option to
say -no- to it in the first place? Or is this all there is
to Service Pack 2 and I should uninstall it?

Hi

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

This worked for me.

Open Control Panel, open Administrative Tools,
open Services, scroll to Security Center, right click,
select properties,
from the dropdown list under Startup Type,
select "Disabled," click apply
and ok. When you reboot you should no longer have the
issue.
