My firewall part of defender will not come on.I have already tried to turn it
on.The circle where you would click it on is shaded and will not turn on. It
says something like this is off because administrator has turned it off and
something about group policy. I i have tried resetting my defaults and still
nothing. I am the owner and administrator of my computer and assure you I
didn't turn it off. I believe it said something also about certain computer
manufacturers turn it off. Please help me before I get a virus or
something!!!!!

Yes I have windows Live care one. I assumed it was part of windows defender
they because they had me download everything at the same time.It was working
after I downloaded everything about a month ago and then about 4 days ago it
notified me that my firewall was off. I haven't changed anything on my
computer.

Ok, that forum I referred you to should be able to help you understand the
activity. Often software firewall installs either disable the built-in
XP/SP2 firewall or convert it to just monitor the status of the software
replacement firewall that was installed as part of the Anti-Virus.
OneCare's firewall does do this. As long as your OneCare firewall is
running in it's place, you have better (two way) firewall protection than
the built-in XP firewall. You probably do not want to be running two
firewalls concurrently.

If the monitor function continues to say your firewall is having problems
then you should investigate further, but it's common to get an alert when
you first boot up that goes away later, after the firewall and Anti-Virus
have had enough time to become fully active.
