i CAN'T USE MY FAX

OK I AM TRYING TO SEND A FAX AND IT KEEPS ON STATING THAT
THERE IS NO DIAL TONE. I HAVE HIGH SPEED INTERNET WITH
COX AND I DID NOT KNOW IF I COULD SEND A FAX THROUGH THE
MODEM, WELL THEY TOLD ME THAT I STILL NEEDED TO DO IT
THROUGH A PHONE LINE SO I HOOKED UP THE LINE, BUT IS NOT
WORKING, DOES SOMEBODY HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT COULD BE
THE PROBLEM, IF SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANKS!

this can be fixed by turning off your caps lock.
fax does not use caps lock.

First, caps lock off, please. Don't SHOUT!

Check you plugged the phone line into the correct jack on the modem - one
goes to the wall jack, the other is a pass through connector so you can have
a phone connected as well. (Itty bitty pictures on the modem are hard to
see!)

Be sure you've configured the modem - follow the instructions that came with
the PC, or check the help files for the modem/fax software. If you know the
brand of modem, check the manufacturer's website
