I can't reduce the Windows taskbar back to 1 line, w/o it disappearing beneath the bottom of the scr

My Windows taskbar expanded into two lines, all of a sudden, w/o any
warning.
(I don't know how this happened.)
Neither my my network guru nor I have been able to figure out how to reduce
the taskbar back to one (1) line.
I posted a screenshot of the situation at this
url (www.marchankin.com/publicfiles/Toolbar.expanded.to.2.lines.pdf) in
case someone has the time to look at it.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

1. Place your cursor over a blank area on the task bar and right click. The
menu will open. Be sure the selection "Lock the Taskbar" does not have a
checkmark next to it - if it does, move cursor to that entry and left click
to remove the checkmark.

2. Place your cursor over the top of the task bar and when you see the
cursor turn into a double arrow, then click and hold the cursor while you
slowly drag the top down 1/2 the distance and then release.

To the OP, drag the quick launch bar to the bottom row, if it doesn't
resize to one line on its own, then follow Bob's number 2.

The task bar bar is resizable, like a window. Put the cursor on
the edge and make it turn into a double-headed arrow. Then click
and drag it to the size you want.

If it won't resize, it may be locked. In that case, right click
on it and uncheck "Lock the taskbar," Then try again.

Also note that if you have toolbars on the taskbar on multiple
lines, you won't be able to reduce the taskbar size to fewer than
that number of lines. Put all the toolbars on one line first.

Hi. Thanks to both of you, Bob S. and Kurt.
The toolbar was not locked.
When my network specialist and I tried to drag the toolbar down (so that it
would be only one line, instead of two lines wide), we couldn't drag it down
to just one line. The choice was either leave it at two lines, or drag it
down so far that it was beneath the bottom of the screen.
But, when I got rid of my QuickLaunch toolbar (by unchecking it [right click
on toolbar, Toolbars, ....]), everything returned to normal. There seems to
be something funky about my Quick Launch toolbar folder.
Neither deleting it and renaming another folder worked to restore normalcy.
Any ideas?

When down to the one line, did you try to re-enable the quick launch
bar?
