Hello All again,

I seem to be having quite a few problems at the moment. Major problem
is....that when I ask for help on here, in the newsgroups, and I always ask
for a e-mail notification to let me know when someone is trying to help me.
When I click on the link that says ' Read and Rate your response ', a browser
window opens, but it is blank...and most of the time if I just go back into
newsgroups manually I can't find my original message, so i am getting NOWHERE
fast !!! Please, someone help me....I am not closing this window for a while
now incase I get a response...I would like to read it !!!!

This is a nightmare.

Regards,

Caz xx

Regards,

This is Usenet, it's not supposed to e-mail you when you get any
responses. You're supposed to check back manually.

He's using the clunky MS Web interface.

In Outlook Express go to Tools | Accounts | Add (or New) | News.
Set up an account for this news server:

msnews.microsoft.com

The server is free and does not require you to logon. This news server
carries over 2200 newsgroups related to Microsoft products and keeps
messages at least 30 days.

For more detail see
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/outlookexpressnewreader.htm

And here are two articles Tom Koch wrote about using newsgroups in Outlook
Express:

Outlook Express Newsgroups 101

Mastering Newsgroups in Outlook Express: Power User Tips

Ah. I didn't realize there was a web interface. This is the CDO
referenced in the OP's header info?

DON'T use your real email address on Usenet unless you like getting
spam. Change it to something like (e-mail address removed)

Alias

Don't be so surprised Caz. Frank is a smart old timer, who knows many
practical solutions to computer problems. That is why he is an MVP.

Hi Alias,

How do I change my e-mail then ? Spam doesn't bother me too much, but its
better without...thats for sure !!! If I change my e-mail address onUSENET,
does his mean I won't get e-mail notifictions from Newsgroups anymore ? They
are useful to me....

Regards, Caz x

AND GERRY !!! I am just so grateful that you guys take the time to help
peeps like me out of these situations. I am hoping to do some Homestudy
computer courses soon (as I'm a stay at home MUM at mo), so I can get a good
paid job in future an also I love working and messing about with computers
anyway...I'm a bit of a 'geek' I guess, but PROUD of it :-)

In Outlook Express select Tools, Accounts, news, place cursor on news
account and select Properties, General and change your email address to
an obviously false one like (e-mail address removed).

I have the same problem. I did not have it until I got the "new & improved"
Hotmail about 8 moths ago. Like cazz, I used to click on the "read and rate"
link.
I use hotmail for all my email not Outlook Express. All of the links shown
in earlier responses are for Outlook express. How do I use hotmail for
newsreader groups you cite.

You cannot use Hotmail to access newsgroups. You need to either use a
news client (like Outlook Express, Agent, Xnews, 40tude, etc.) or an
inferior and problematic Web site interface. For more info, go this page

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html

and scroll down to "Getting Tech Support"/C. Usenet
