Please post the complete exact text of error messages you are seeing,
and include your version of Windows XP including the service pack.

If you can provide some clues about what might be causing your problem -
recent changes to hardware, software or configuration settings, what you
were trying to do just before the problem started, etc. - you're more
likely to get accurate help. Remember, we rely totally on your descriptions.

myspaceThanks for your help. That is the error, XP home edition SP2, I'm not
sure if anything new was installed, nothing that I know about. Kids and
grandkids have been on the computer, but usually they don't install anything.
Used trojan remover about it 2 weeks ago and was working fine. Son on MYSPACE
and other sites, that why I needed the Trojan Remover. Microsoft Visuall C ++
than the same runtime error, sometimes comes up sometimes.
Program:\??\C:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe is the error, I leftout the C:
Thanks again

Hi "Carlettie",

OK, apparently you got a "terminated unexpectedly" runtime error with your
Windows XP Home SP2 system. What other security upgrades besides SP3
(Service Pack 3) have not yet been installed on the system? What version of
Internet Explorer? What anti-virus software, and is it fully updated?

Can you remember anything else that happened before the present problem?

What is the name of the trojan that was found?

What "Trojan Remover" was used?

Do you have a Windows CD that you can use to boot into Recovery Console?

What brand and model of computer?

Does the computer have a hidden recovery partition?

Since "winlogon.exe" is a favorite target of malware (Virus, Trojan,
Rootkit, etc.) infections, it appears likely that your system is still
infested with one or more forms of malware, or still has leftover damage
that yet needs repair. You may have reached the point where the only thing
that can be done is remove the drive, and hook it up to another (protected)
computer to copy any Valued Data off the drive that you don't already have
backup copies of, and do a full malware scan of the drive. You may need
expert local help for something like that. There may be computer clubs in
your area, or even near neighbors that can help you for free. Your primary
concern is protecting any Valued Data on your system.

After you get the runtime error notice, is there an OK button to press? What
happens after that message? Are you getting a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)
message also? And if so, what is the complete stop error message including
error codes? If messages vanish before you can write down the message, use
your PAUSE/BREAK key to pause the action, and then press ENTER to resume.
(During that part of startup BEFORE Windows begins loading, you can also
Pause, but use Ctrl+Pause to resume in that case.)

I'm looking forward to updates on your progress and a good outcome.

HTH (Hope This Helps! :)
