I don't know when this happened, but whenever I double-click on my wireless
or LAN connection, it just says "An unexpected error occured". I can't change
my IP, DNS, or any of the properties. I can't change the order of preferred
wireless connections. Basically, I can't configure anything. Not even enable
or disable the adaptor. The connections normallywork, but I can't change the
settings... I'm using XP Professional with all the latest updates on a
Toshiba laptop.

I notice too when I install things sometimes, that it says "Cannot load
installer for Net.. or Infrared" as well.... Don't know if this has to do
with anything.

You may want to use netsh to re-set TCP/IP. This link may help,

IpconfigWith Windows 2000/XP/2003, you can use the netsh command to script the process of changing a computer TCP/IP setting withoutrebooting the computer. ...
