Hello all,

I`d appreciate any help greatly about the following problem. I am
stuck. I can only partially get through reinstallation of Windows
Home XP and I can`t get into windows normal or safe mode.

A few days ago my computer (Toshiba Satellite A60) froze. I turned
it off and got some kind of disk error.
I got a message saying the computer had stopped to protect itself from
damage and If I see this message again I should follow certain steps.
I don`t believe there was any infection, but some programs had been
slow or not responding.

I decided to reinstall to "Out of Box state" using recovery CD.

It started up OK and began recovery. But then I got an error message
and a prompt - "Press finish to try again".
I have tried many times, but I always get an error.

If I turn on computer with no CD in CD-ROM I get a message saying
there is no CD in the drive.

So I cannot enter windows. Also I cannot enter safe mode (F8 key)

I have tried cleaning the CD but it made no difference. In fact now I
am geting errors during the "delete petitions" phase of recovery.

1. Does anyone know how I could get into safe mode or recovery
console or Windows ?

2. Does anyone have any advice ?

It`d be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
